Police officer among suspects arrested for stealing road construction materials

Suspects arrested on the morning of Sunday, February 13  for allegedly stealing materials used for the construction of the Nairobi expressway also include a Police Officer. 

 The police officer simply identified as Thomas Odisa Musasa was attached to the criminal investigation Patrol Unit (CPIU). He is among the officer deployed to guard the expressway but instead of carrying out his lawful duties, he connived with four other civilians to steal construction materials. They were later caught in the act.

 

 The other suspects are Andrew Kones Ntikiya a guard at the construction site, Ephantus Mwangi a driver and owner of the motor vehicle that had been loaded with the stolen goods, Samuel Kariuki and Samuel Mutembe. Pipes stolen by the suspects are worth about Khs275,000.

 According to the police, the suspects were caught by officer Peter Lang’a. Officer Peter is also a member of the CIPU division. He and his colleagues were on mobile patrol along the express at around 4:am when they accosted the suspects loading pipes into a pickup. 

 

The statement read; 

 

“The property of Cale Constructions Company was recovered and retained as exhibits.

“The pickup was parked outside site K8+500 with five pieces of the pipes already loaded in it.”

 

They were arrested after they were unable to explain what they intend to do with the materials and who authorized them to take them. 

 

All suspects were arraigned in court on Monday, February 14.
