Nigerian Police Set To Raid IBB University Student`s Hostels To Fish Out Alleged Internet Fraudsters
As a
result of the alleged cyber-crimes students of the Badamasi
Babangida University are currently involved in, the Nigerian police force has
stated that it will raid the University's student lodges in Lapai, Niger state.
Yusuf
Musa, the divisional police officer claimed that the police received a report
from the Economic and Financial crimes commission revealing that quite a
sizable number of students are involved in internet fraud. That was why the
police wrote a letter addressed to the managing director of the school.
The statement reads: “This letter is concerning the
permission for conducting lodge-to-lodge phone/room searching that will be
coming up on 11th April 2023 at about 1000hours, based on credible intelligence
gathering information received from the headquarters' of Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC) that most of your students are into internet fraud
that is against the penal code of law. That our office will embark on the lodge
to lodge searching with a search warrant with the said effect this operation
will be led by Detective Yusuf Musa in accompany by EFCC, men of the Nigeria
police mobile force, and special police constabulary.

“The
affected lodges are listed below: Mafbam Lodges, Khairat Lodges, and some other
lodges. This office is assuring you that none of our security operatives will
brutalize any of your students during and after the Assignment. This letter is
forwarded for your approval
and
necessary action please,” the statement added.
Ibrahim
Badamasi Babangida University (IBBUL) is a recognized university in Niger
State, central Nigeria. It had its first convocation in 2014. It was named
after the former Nigeria Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida. The
university started academic activities in the 2005/2006 academic session.
