World Cup Host Qatar Makes History As The Earliest Host Country To Get Eliminated In The World Cup

The tiny golf nation and world cup host Qatar has penned its name on the book of football history as the first world cup host country to get eliminated earliest from the tournament after losing its first two games.

Qatar lost its first game to Ecuador while it lost its second game to Senegal on Friday, November 25. This second loss leaves them with no chance at all to qualify for the knockout phase even as Ecuador and Netherlands played out a 1-1 draw.

On Tuesday Qatar will play its final game against the Netherlands. Even if Qatar wins that game, they will be unable to catch their group rivals since they will have only three points.

Another host nation that was also knocked out in the group stage of the world cup is south Africa but the difference between Qatar and South Africa is that South Africa was knocked out in the final game of the group stage in 2010.
