HOW DOES WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE WORK?

The game show, who wants to be a millionaire has an intricate set of rules. In each episode, it starts with hosting a group of contestants in a preliminary round called “fastest finger first”. In this round, a question and four answers are giving by the host, and the contenders are required to place them in a particular order.

The contender who answers the question accurately in the fastest time is picked to play the main game.  Once the contestant enters the main game, he/she will be asked different difficult questions by the host. Each of these questions has four options in which the contestant will have to pick the correct answer.

Each question comes with a certain amount of money, thus as the contestant advances in the game, his prize fund increases. The contestant has a set of lifelines that they may use during the game when they need help with a question.

Lifelines are 50/50 whereby the computer eliminates two random wrong options thus leaving the right option and one wrong option. “Phone a friend” is when the contestant has 30 seconds to phone a friend read out the question and the four options and then ask the friend for the answer.  There is also an “ask the audience”  where the audience is allowed to select what they believe is the correct answer. Each option has a percentage of persons who write chose it and that percentage is displayed to the contestant.

Some of the past winners include Osazuwa Osahon Daniels – N5 million (2009), Aroma Ufodike Chimuanya – N10 million (2009), Babatunde Oni Oladipo – N5 million (2010), Nnaemeka Ubaekwena – N5 million (2012).
