Veteran Chelsea Goalkeeper, Petr Cech Joins Ice Hockey Club Chelmsford Chieftains
Peter Cech, the former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper has
joined Chelmsford Chieftains an ice hockey side on a one-year deal.
The 40-year-old ex-goalkeepers side Essex side is
currently In the NIHL Division One South, a tier above his former club Guildford
Phoenix. Cech made 20 appearances for his surrey side for three years, He
helped them to a treble before leaving this summer.
He signed for the chieftains ahead of their
match with oxford city stars on Sunday. He wore the same #39 jersey he also
wore at the phoenix.
‘I’m excited for a new challenge with the
Chieftains and I’m looking forward to helping the team reach their targets for
the season," the 40-year-old said.
While at Guildford, Cech has an average of .931
saves and here is what Chieftains head coach Mark Saunders has to say about
this. "Having a netminder of Petr's quality and experience come into our
squad is a huge boost for us right now.

"He brings a winning
mentality, a desire to compete every single time he's on the ice, and we look
forward to seeing him add to our group this season."
While with Chelsea, Cech won four premier
leagues title, three league cups, five FA cups, the Champions League, and
Europa League during his time as a footballer in England.
From 2019, Cech worked as a technical advisor
but he left Stamford Bridge this summer when Todd Boehly took over the club.
