Two Abducted Schoolgirls Escape From Sambisa Forest In Borno State
The duo identified as Hauwa Mutah and Esther Markus, were on Sunday said to
have escaped from the war-torn Sambisa forest as a result of intense military
operations.
Reports reveal that
the two girls escaped from the terrorist den.
“One is from Chibok and the other one is from
Dzilang village,” a security officer told Daily Trust.
According to the
report by Colonel Obinna Ezuipke, the head of the intelligence unit of the
joint military task force Hadinka, the remaining number of Chibok girls in
captivity is 98 last week.

The statistical
breakdown from Euipke`s revealed that 57 of the 276 abducted schools escaped in
2014, while 107 were released in 2018. Three girls were rescued in 2019, two in
2021, and nine in 20222 bringing the total rescued girls to 178 with 98 still
in captivity.
On the night of
14-15 April 2014, the Islamic State Terrorist group, Boko Haram 276 girls aged
16-18 most of which are Christian girls were abducted from the Government girl's
Secondary school in Chibok town Borno State.
Due to the
deteriorating security conditions in the read, the school was closed four weeks
before the raid, but the girls were there to take physics final exams. 57 of
the school girls escaped immediately after the incident by jumping from the
trucks on which they were being transported while others have been rescued by
the Nigerian armed forces on different occasions.
