The Executive Committee Of The Nigerian Football Federation Approves Jose Peseiro As New Coach Of The Super Eagles
The executive
committee of the Nigerian Football Federation says they have approved the
appointment of Jose Peseiro as the new head coach of the super eagles.
Peseiro has replaced the German coach Gernot
Rohr who the NFF sacked on the 13 of December 2021. The NFF announced in a communique
released on Wednesday. In the statement released on Wednesday, the NFF said
that Austin Eguavoen who was named as the interim head coach will still lead the
Super Eagles to the AFCON 2022 that is set to be held in Cameroun.
According to the NFF, Jose Peseiro will only
play the role of an observer during the tournament while Eguavoen will return
to his role as Technical Director at the end of the tournament.

Who is Jose Peseiro?
Jose
Vitor dos Santos Peseiro is a former Portuguese football manager and former
player who has coached the likes of Porto, Braga, and Sporting Lisbon. He was
born in 1960 in Coruche Portugal He was a striker during his playing days.
He took Sporting CP to the 2005 Uefa cup
final. In 2003, he worked as an assistant coach for Real Madrid. Between 2009 and 2011, Peseior coached Al Hilal
in Saudi Arabia Before going back home to coach Braga in Portugal.
The 61-year-old has also coached the Saudi
Arabian National Team. Jose Peseiro has done marvelous work in the African soil
after having an illustrious time coaching the Al-Ahly of Egypt. His former job
was with the Venezuelan National Team before he took up this new role with
Nigeria.
