Suspected Neighborhood thief nabbed with an item he stole
The Kwara state command of the Nigerian Security And Civil
Defense Corps has arrested an alleged member of a Neighborhood robbery gang
in Illorin.
The suspect 21 years
old Abdulwasiu Sulaiman was apprehended when he was trying to escape with a
generator he stole from one house in the estate. He was apprehended by Oke Foma Phase 3 Estate
Vigilantee members Illorin.
The spokesperson for
the defense corps Babawale Afolabi said that the generator he sole belonged to
one Moshood Otubu, who resides at Oke Fpma Phase 2. The suspect is accused of
scaling the fence before stealing the generator valued at 150,000 Naira.
Upon interrogation,
the suspect confessed that he is part of a criminal gang that specializes in
breaking into people's houses to steal their valuable items. The suspect also
confessed that his gang was responsible for the breaking and entry incidences
in recent times.
Afolabi noted
that there had been an increase in burglary and housebreaking cases in recent
times in the state capital. He also
noted that the collaborative efforts to bring the situation under control are yielding
positive results.
