SQUID GAME – NETFLIX BIGGEST LUCH SERIES
As a Netflix user, if you are asked what is
Netflix's biggest ever show? What would you say? Your guess is as good as mine.
It's a SQUID GAME. 111 million fans are watching the show since its debut on September
17.
On the 12th of October, Netflix
made the official announcement that Squid Game has broken the Dystopian drama's
earlier record of being watched by 82 million accounts in its first 28 days. The
squid game now has over 111 million fans watching it.
The 111 million views currently represent more
than half of Netflix's global subscriber base of around 209 million. This is
very impressive even though the show does not feature any superstar.
The South Korean movie is currently the #1
trending show on Netflix. It is also #1 on
Netflix's top 10 list. According to CNN Squid game is also the first South Korean
movie show to hit the #1 status in the United States.
Minyoung Kim is the
vice president of content for South Korea, Australia, South East Asia, New
Zealand. He said the show “has broken through beyond our wildest dreams”.
According to Kim, they
first started investing in the Korean film series in the Netflix series in 2015
and they wanted to make world-class stories for the K-content fans across Asia
and the world.
The squid game gave
Netflix more confidence that their global strategy is going in the right
direction.
