Singer Shakira Announces Split From, Football Star Gerard Pique Amid Cheating Allegations
Music and football fans woke up to the rather disheartening
news that Shakira and Gerard Pique have split. The duo started their
relationship in 2010 and they currently have two sons together, Milan and Sasha.
Below is the statement released by the Shakira
communication agency.
"We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the well-being of our
children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy.
Thank you for your understanding."
You might be wondering what led to the split between
the singer and the football international? Well, the Barcelona defender was
allegedly caught in bed with another woman. There is also a controversy around Suzy
Cortez, better known as Miss BumBum and she claimed that Pique hit on her.
She went ahead to
narrate how she met pique and how she received messages from him in which he
requested the measurement of some of her body parts. According to Cortez, pique
wrote her messages and some of them are not nice.

"He was the one who sent me -message- more direct. The
only Barcelona players who never sent me anything were Messi and Coutinho.
They are great husbands and they respect their wives a lot. Shakira didn't
deserve this," Cortez told El Diario NY.
It has not been all
rosy for the couple at all. There are reports that the duo has been living
separately, for some weeks after pique was kicked out of the family home.
Spanish outlet El
Periodico reported that the footballer has been staying in a bachelor pad and
has been partying all around since the split.
The music superstar did
not fail to let the world know of the crisis in her union when she released her
latest hit 'Te Felicito' with Rauw Alejandro. The 45-year-old was sang: "To
complete you I broke into pieces; I was warned, but I didn't listen; I realized
that yours is false; it was the drop that overflowed the glass; Don't tell me
you're sorry, that sounds sincere, but I know you well and I know you're
lying."
