Russian soldier surrenders with tank in return for $10,000 and Ukrainian citizenship after his colleagues ran off and his commander threatened to shoot him'

What could $10,000 (£7,500)  get in the Russia Ukraine conflict? Well, reports show that Ukraine has gotten a Russian tank, a Russian soldier for $10,000. This was part of the reward given to a Russian soldier who was handed himself over to the Ukrainians.

Misha(not real names) was part of the Russian invading soldiers, but currently, he has surrendered a T-72B3 main battle tank in exchange for Ukrainian citizenship and cash. According to the Ukrainian minister of internal affairs Victor Andrusiv, he did this after his crewmates ran away and his commanding officer threatened to shoot him.

Misha and Andrusiv contacted Ukraine National police by phone and arranged for a place to meet. In other to confirm that it is not an ambush, Ukraine had to send a drone with a camera to meet with the soldier.

He said: 'For a few weeks in the National Police we have identified the phones used by Russians.

'On these phones, we regularly send SMS about how to surrender and hand over the equipment.

'A few days ago, Misha called us.

'We handed over the information about him to the GUR MO [Ukrainian military intelligence].

'He didn't see the point of the war.

Special forces then detained Misha, who lay face-down with his hand up as he surrendered.

The T-72B3 tank is now in Ukraine's custody. It can accommodate a three-person crew and it's fitted with a 125 mm smoothbore main gun. It also has a machine gun and an anti-tank guided missile.
