Rafiatu Lawal Folashade Wins Nigerian Second Gold In The 2022 Common Wealth Games
On Sunday, July 31, 2022, Three commonwealth
records were broken when Rafiatu Folashade Lawal won three gold medals at the
games event.
Rafiatu set a new
commonwealth record when she lifted 90kg at the snatch category thus setting a
new commonwealth games record.

The 25-year-old
lifted 110 Kg at the first attempt and lifted 115kg at the second attempt thus
setting a new Games Record. With the Nigerian Spirit Flowing in her veins, she
went ahead to attempt the third time and set another Commonwealth Games World
Record by lifting a 116 Kg. The silver was won by England Jessica Gordon Brown
after lifting 197 kg while Canada Tali Darsigny won the bronze after lifting
196kg.
A combined 206kg is a new Commonwealth Games Record in the women’s
59kg weightlifting Event.
Rafiatu Victory is coming just hours after Team Nigeria
Celebrated the Bronze Medal won by Edidiong Joseph Umoafia in the men’s 67kg
Weightlifting event.
