Pregnant Woman Raped In Kwara - Three Arrested

The security agencies in Woro village Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have left no stone unturned as they arrested three suspects who are alleged to have raped a seven-month pregnant woman.

 The three suspects were arrested by an operative of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense corps. The three of them are identified as Lawal Ibrahim, 25; Mohammed Issa, 19; and Ibrahim Ahmed, 20. 

  Following their arrest, information gotten revealed that the suspects also robbed a couple on Tuesday 5th July 2022, carting away their goods.

 Ayeni Olasunkanmi, the NSCDC public relations officer while confirming the incident said that one of the suspects Lawal was arrested while he was trying to sell some items they stole from the couple`s home.

Olasunkanmi said; 

 

“A case of rape and robbery was reported on the 5th of July at the NSCDC Woro outpost. The crime was reported to have happened at Woro Village in Kaiama Local government area, Kwara state at about 2:00hrs.

“The victims; a seven months pregnant woman and her husband were allegedly attacked by the suspects in their house at Woro. The 7 months pregnant woman was allegedly raped and some items were carted away by the assailants.

“Upon getting the report, the state Acting Commandant, DCC Jonah Gabriel, gave order that the perpetrators be fished out.

“However, luck ran out on the suspects as one of them, Lawal Ibrahim, was arrested by our men while he was trying to dispose of the stolen items."

 

Upon being arrested, Lawal gave some confessional statements which eventually led to the arrest of the other two suspects.

 As of this time, the three suspects are already arraigned before the Kaiama Area high court. Justice Usman Lukman ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Federal correctional Centre, New Bussa, till the 27th of July 2022.
