Over 200 Cartons Of Alcoholic Drinks Seized By Hisbah in Kebbi

Over 200 cartons of different brands of alcohol have been reportedly seized by the Kebbi State Hisbah board. They were seized during an early morning operation that took was carried out on Saturday, March 12 in Birnin Kebbi the state capital. 

 The Hisbah police acted in a Tip-off and swooped on a particular location around the old market. There they found a car fully loaded with the banned product and they were about to offload the product and start selling to the general public. 

  Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed, the chairman of Hisban board disclosed this to the press in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday. He said that the sale of alcohol runs contrary to the law of Kebbi state which banned the sales and consumption of alcohol in all parts of the state with the exception of barracks and similar outposts. 

 According to the commandant, Mr. Onoh Christain who is the owner of the seized items was also arrested during the operation.

  Mohammed while speaking on the scene of the arrest told newsmen that the Board will continue to enforce the law until people learn to respect the laws of the state. He added that the matter will be investigated further and the case will be handled following the rule of law. 

 He also used the opportunity to call of those he called habitual lawbreakers -those who are happy with undermining the peaceful coexistence of the people in the state to desist from their nefarious activities.
