Officer Who Stabbed His colleague To Death Over Minor Misunderstanding Arrested By Police In Bayelsa
The Bayelsa state
police command has confirmed the arrest of a police officer who allegedly stabbed
his colleague to death. The offer is identified
simply as Sergeant Akpoboloukeme was stabbed by Sergent Sapele Eyerindideke to death.
This ugly incident occurred on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at the Edepie axis
of Yenagoa Bayelsa state. Information gathered also showed that the two police
officers are cousins and they both hail from the Toru-gbene community in Delta
state.
According to friends and eyewitnesses, the duo was together
at a table in a wedding ceremony at a hotel along INEC road in Yanagoa
metropolis. At that party, the deceased cracked a minor joke which sergeant Akpoboloukeme
did not take lightly because of his short temper.
He fled the scene after stabbing his colleague to
death. He was later arrested at glory land drive the exit route from Yenagoa.
The spokesperson
for the Police command SP Butswat confirmed the incident said that the killer
cop was arrested at the Glory Land Drive which is the Exit Route from Yenagoa
and that investigation is still ongoing.
"An off-duty Police Officer stabbed his colleague with
a dagger to death in Yenagoa, over a minor misunderstanding," Butswat
stated.
The corpse of the
victim has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
"The Bayelsa state commissioner of police CP Ben Okolo
has ordered for the detention of the officer and that a thorough investigation
should be done.
