Nigerian airstrike targeting terrorists mistakenly kills children in Niger Republic

 Seven children have been mistakenly killed and 5 others wounded in Niger Republic after a Nigerian airforce airstrike targeting bandits misfired and hit them. 

   The governor of the Maradi Region Chaibou Aboubacar while disclosing this to AFP on February 20, he said that the sad incident occurred on Friday, February 11. 

   

“There was a mistake with the Nigerian strikes on the border that resulted in victims on our territory in the village of Nachade. ?The victims are 12 children, seven of them dead and five wounded,” he said

  The strike killed four children instantly while 3 others succumbed to their injuries while they were on their way to the hospital.

According to the governor, “the parents were attending a ceremony and the children were probably playing when the strikes” hit them.

 He believed the planes were targeting the “armed bandits” in the border areas but misfired hitting Nachade Instead. 

Governor Aboubacar said he paid a visit to the children`s graves on Saturday. He also visited the scenes of the bombardment.
