NDLEA seizes over N600m worth of drugs at Port Harcourt Airport
The Garden city of Nigeria is on the news once again. This
time, it is the news that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has gotten a big
catch. The agency seized illicit drugs worth over 600 million Naira at the Port
Harcourt International Airport.
The commander of the agency at the airport Mr.
Isaac Aloye disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the activities of the
command in the past four months in line with the International Day Against Drugs
which was celebrated on June 26.
According to the commander of the agency, 37.6
Kilogram of cocaine worth about 680 million Naira have been intercepted within
the said period and about 5 suspects have been arrested.

According to Aloye, some of the suspects are
returnees from Brazil who use lawn movers, duvets, and cosmetic bottles to
conceal the drugs.
“Substantial parts of these drugs are even meant for local consumption and
circulation within Rivers State here. You know the kind of massive impact it
will have in the minds of our citizens,” he said.
“From our arrest here, we didn’t just pick these people. Immediately they
arrive, we try to debrief them. We try to find out who and who is waiting for
them to pick them up from the airport.
“What happened in the last couple of months is that they are looking at this
airport as an easy way out.”
