Naira slumps in last official trading day of the week, sheds N1.8
The Nigerian currency, the naira, slumped against the dollar at the official window on the last trading day of the week on Friday, January 10, 2025.
This means, the naira only recorded a gain in the five trading days of the week depreciating on four occasions.
FMDQ data showed that the naira slumped to N1,543.03/$1 on Friday, January 10, 2025, from N1,541.23/$1 recorded on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
This represents a loss of N1.80 against the dollar.
In the black market, the naira lost N5 against the dollar to trade at N1,655/$1 as against the previous rate of N1,650/$1.
Similarly, the naira closed flat against the British Pound to trade at N2,140/£1 same as the previous day’s rate of N2,140\£1.
The naira continues to hold steady against the Canadian Dollar at N1,280/CA$1.
The naira however gained N15 against the Euro to trade at ₦1,700/€1 as against the previous day’s rate of ₦1,715/€1.
