London judge orders confiscation of $130 million from Nigerian ex-governor Ibori

On July 21st, London issued a court order aiming to confiscate £101.5 million ($130 million) from James Ibori, a former Nigerian state governor who exploited his position to amass wealth and engaged in money laundering both in the UK and other countries.

This confiscation order represents one of the most substantial penalties ever imposed on an individual in recent British legal history. Despite being in Nigeria, Ibori has expressed his intention to appeal against the order.
