Lionel Messi Set To Make Shocking Move To Inter Miami – Reports

MLS side Inter Miami has declined to speculate whether they are making a move for the world cup winner, although a switch to Saudi Arabia appears to be the most likely destination for the 35-year-old.

BBC, the independent, Marca, and others named Miami as Messi`s new club after his two-year contract with French League 1 Champions PSG expired.

Although Messi has not announced which club side he would play for next, sources close to the negotiations and previous reports suggest that the world cup winner could join his counterparts such as Karim Benzema, world cup winning midfielder N`Golo Kante, and Cristiano Ronaldo on a lucrative contract to play in oil-rich Saudi Arabia.

Kante, Messi, and Benzema were on the list of 10 targets who have been contracted by Saudi officials, a close source told AFP this week.

If Wednesday`s report is anything but true, then it's Florida and not Jeddah that will be Messi's new destination.

Fabrizio Romano a sports journalist stated that Messi “will clarify the reasons and details of his decision to join Inter Miami in the next hours.”

MLS side Inter Maimi sacked its coach Phil Neville last week and replaced him with Messi's compatriot Javier Morales.

The Miami club now has a distinctively Argentine feel. The club also has a strong South American fan base, Their goal-keeping coach Sebastine Saja played four times for the national side and spent close to a decade with Argentine club San Lorenzo.

Federico Higuain, a brother to former Real Madrid and Argentina forward Gonzalo is the head coach of the Inter`s reserve team. He is assisted by compatriot Christian Raul Ledesma.
