Herder Killed And Buried In Shallow Grave By Unknown Gunmen In Delta

-Igbo, the headquarters of Oshimili North LGA is the news and not for the best
reasons. It is where a yet-to-be-identified herder was killed and his corpse
buried in a shallow grave. Reports also reveal that the gunmen killed three
cattle while other cattle fled into the forest.
Reports from Vanguard Newspaper revealed that
the gunmen were heard speaking the Igbo Language. They opened fire at the
cattle and their herders in a forest located at Abakeleke Camp, Akwuwku- Igbo.
Three cattle were shot while other cattle fled in different directions in the
forest.
DSP bright Edafe, the spokesperson of the
Delta State Police Command who confirmed the attack on the herder said the assailants
are currently on the run.

“The
assailants are on the run, we are on their trail. It is confirmed that the
corpse of a herder was unearthed. The family has taken the corpse for Islamic
burial.”
According to a source, the vigilante's group
in the area, Anioma Security, based in Akwukwu-Igbo organized a search party immediately after they heard
what happened.
“The
vigilante combed the area before they sighted the shallow grave they buried the
boy after the unpremeditated murder,” he said
The Corpse of the young herder was taken to
the Akwukwu-Igbo
police station by the search team. Yesterday, the remains were released to the
family for him to be buried according to Islamic rights.
There is tension in the community as a result of
this unprovoked killing. The natives are saying no none was authorized to enter
the bush to kill anybody.
