Gunmen Kill Four Policemen, Two Others In Imo
Reports from Imo have it that
gunmen have killed four policemen and two civilians along Okpala Junction in Ngorokpala Local Government Area of the South-Eastern
state.
This sad incident was confirmed by the Imo
state Police command. The police command confirmed that the attack occurred in
the early hours of Friday.
Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations
Officer, said that the unfortunate killings occurred when the police team
attached to Mbaise/Ngorokpala Area Command was on Patrol of the area when they
were reportedly attacked and ambushed by the gunmen who engaged the police
team.
Okoye
revealed that four officers paid the supreme price while two unarmed civilians
lost their lives.

Okoye also added that the Imo State Police
Command is on top of the situation and men of the command`s tactical team have
been drafted to the area for intensive combing with a mandate to arrest the
perpetrators and bring them to book.
Gunmen
have been launching several attacks in different parts of Imo lately and the
police spokesperson has called for calm.
Just some
days ago, Augustine Ukaegbu, an inspector of police was killed by Gunmen in Umuoshike
Ogbor, Aboh-Mbaise LGA of the state.
Three
men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were feared dead
following an ambush in the Obiangwu community, Ngor-Okpala LGA.
