Gunmen Invade Cross Rivers Private University Hostel And Abduct Female Student
Gunmen have invaded the Arthur Jarvis University in the Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State. During
their invasion, the gunmen abducted a female student.
The
invasion occurred around 8 pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Below is the statement
released by Mrs.Ughas Ngozi who is the acting registerer of the institution.
“Management is on top of events and the security agencies
are in control of the situation. All students and staff are please requested to
remain calm and go about their normal duties.”
The public is
also warned to desist from circulating false information."

Information gathered by the
Nation from multiple sources indicates that the attack occurred when the students
were just returning from their night classes. Some students who escaped the
attack sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Irene Ugbo, the
Police Public relations officer, has said that the commissioner of police Aminu
Alhassan has deployed the dragon units, the anti-kidnapping units, and the
anti-cultism units to forestall law and order and also to rescue the kidnapped
victim.
