Four Policemen Feared Dead As Chief of Staff Ibrahim Gambari, Fashola, and Ngige’s Convoy Crashes in Delta

Four men of the Nigerian Police force have been feared dead after a convoy of the Chief of Staff Pro Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; and Minister of Labour and Employment, Christ Ngige, crashed when they went for an inspection of a bridge in Asaba Delta State.

 The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. The driver lost control of the vehicle conveying the security men and it crashed into a pit. 

 John Okorie, an eyes witness told Punch that the vehicle the security operatives were in was negotiating a bend leading to the construction site of the second Niger Bridge in Asaba the Delta State Capital. 

The police vehicle was reported to be speeding to meet up with the ministers’ vehicles when it veered off the road and crashed.

A Delta Line driver said;

 

“The incident was very fatal.

“The policeman driver was speeding and while negotiating the bend because of the speed could not control the vehicle. They crashed into a deep pit. I was at the back of the convoy, driving slowly.

“With the help of other people, we rescued four of them but they were badly injured. They were shouting as the vehicle fell on them.”
