Five Persons Dead As Suspected Herdsmen Invade Benue Village
At least five persons have been killed by suspected herdsmen. This ugly incident took place in Tse-Ahentse Village in Ndzorov council ward of Guma LGA of Benue state.
Others also sustained gunshot wounds following the attack that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday 8 March 2022.
Some villagers who spoke to Daily Trust said that they were sleeping when the suspected herdsmen launched their attacks. They stormed the community and started shooting sporadically.
Caleb Aba, the chairman of Guma Local Government Area confirmed the ugly incident. He also said the attack happened around 4:00 am and 5:30 am.
"These innocent people were sleeping in their homes between 4 am and 5:30 am when suspected armed herders attacked the community and started shooting. They killed five members of the community and injured two persons., Aba said.

"Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) is even situated at Iordye village very close to the scene but I wonder what kept them for so long because when the shooting started, somebody ran to inform them but they couldn’t come to the venue until they ensured that the herders had done what they wanted and left before they went to the place.”
Alhaji Risku Mohammed the Benue State chairman of Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria said that his attention has been drawn to the incident during a security meeting with the state government on Tuesday. He added that he has contacted his members and is waiting for their feedback if they knew anything about the matter.
SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson of the state police command confirmed the incident but said that only four people were killed.
"The killing in Guma Local Government Area is confirmed. Four persons were killed and one person is currently receiving treatment. An investigation is ongoing,” Anene said.
