FG Declares Friday and Monday Public Holiday For Easter Celebrations
The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, March 7, 2023,
which Churches of Christendom regard as Good Friday, and Monday 10, 2023 which
is regarded as Easter Monday as a public holiday. The public holidays are
declared to mark this year`s Easter celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola declared a public holiday in
Abuja on Wednesday.
Mr. Aregbesola, in a statement signed by the permanent secretary Shuaib Begore, enjoined Christians to copy the virtues of
Jesus Christ Such as love, peace, kindness, patience, togetherness, forgiveness,
and sacrifice based on the examples he set while on earth.

The interior minister used this medium to call
on all Christians in Nigeria to use the occasion of this year`s Easter to
celebrate and ask God to end the security challenges In parts of the country.
He said, “Security is everybody’s business, I,
therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a
high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of
all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of
the citizenry.”
The Minister also added that the Federal
Government is doing all that is necessary to ensure a peaceful transition of
government following the peaceful conduct of the elections.
Rauf Aregbesola
wished Christians home and abroad a happy and fruitful Easter celebration while
encouraging them to love their neighbors by displaying acts of kindness and
generosity by sharing what they have with the less privileged among them.
The Interior minister once again assured
Nigerians that the nation is going in the right direction and encouraged all to
positively deploy their creative energy for the full realization of the coming
prosperity. “There is surely light at the end of the tunnel,” he stated.
