Diver Finds 900 Years Old Cruserders Sword Off The Coast Of Israel
In the shallow waters
off the coast of Haifa in Israel, a diver out of nowhere saw a sword. He took
it out, showed it to an expert and it turned out to be a 900-year-old weapon
used by a warrior during crusades.
The crusades were a series
of conflicts between Christians and Muslim forces over who will have control of
Jerusalem and other parts of the holy land. This conflict began in 1095 and lasted
for centuries. During this time, European Christian warriors traveled to the middle
east to fight against Muslim forces.
According to experts, this sword resurfaced
due to shifting islands. The sword is about one meter long and that shows that
it must have been used by a physically strong warrior. The sword has been
covered by sea organisms when it was found.
The IAA(Israel Antiquities
Agency) has said that the sword would be cleaned, analyzed, and then put on
public display.
The IAA also stated that the Carmel coast area
where the sword was found was used through the centuries by ships who were
seeking shelter from storms due to its many coves, leaving various “rich archaeological
finds”.
