Court to rule on Yahaya Bello’s bail application December 10
Justice Maryann Anenih of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday fixed December 10 for ruling in the bail application filed by former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.
The judge fixed the date after the prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), and the defence, Joseph Daudu, (SAN), presented their arguments on the bail application.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the former governor alongside two others on a 16-count charge of money laundering and fraud.
Other defendants are – Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
After taking their plea, the defence counsel filed a bail application on behalf of his clients.
But Pinheiro opposed the application, arguing that it had expired in October.
But Daudu insisted that the only relevant application before the court was the motion for bail in respect of the ex-governor which was filed on November 22.
Justice Anenih adjourned the ruling in the bail application till December 10 and ordered that the three defendants be remanded in EFCC custody.
