Chief of Army Staff orders release of female soldier detained over a marriage proposal from youth Corper
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Faruk Yahaya has ordered the
immediate release of a female soldier, Pte, Hannah Sofiat, who was earlier
detained for accepting a marriage proposal from a corps member in the NYSC orientation
camp in Yikpata some few days ago.
The female soldier
was released in the spirit of Christmas.
The female soldier,
Sofiat had earlier been detained because she violated the military rules and
regulations by getting involved in a public display of an amorous relationship
with a paramilitary trainee- a corps member.
She was arrested
after video clips on social media showing her accepting a marriage
proposal from a male corps member in an NYSC orientation camp.
Several groups and
individuals have since called on the Nigerian Army to release the female soldier.
