Cambridge University Returns Stolen Artifacts To Nigeria
The Cambridge Jesus
college has returned a stolen Benin artifact to Nigeria. This artifact named
Okokur was stolen by British soldiers in the 1890s who fought against the
ancient Benin empire. Since then,m the artifact
has been in museums in the UK.
On the 27th
of October 2021, the artifact was returned to the palace of the Oba of Benin. It is now in Benin after it was stolen by British
soldiers in 1897.
