Billionaire Elon Musk Buys $3Bn Worth Of Twitter Shares Making Him The Largest Shareholder In The Company
According to a US security-filling, billionaire and the world's
richest man, Elon Musk has bought a 9.2% stake in the popular social media
platform Twitter. This makes him the company's largest shareholder.
According to the US securities and exchange commission, tech
guru and Tesla founder bought 73,486,938 Twitter shares on the 14th
of March 2022. This share is worth $2.89bn (£2.20bn). This amount is worth four times more than the 2.25% holding
of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.
This
news sent Twitter stocks as high as 25% in pre-marketing trading On Monday,
April 4.

Musk
loves twitting regularly and has a follower base of about 80 million. Lately,
he said he is seriously considering building a social media platform. He also
asked his followers if they thought the social media platform encouraged
freedom of speech.
"Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe
Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?"
He then asked: "Is a new platform needed?"
