Bandits kill DPO and six others in Niger state

Gunmen believed to be bandits have killed Umar Mohammed the DPO of Nasko Divisional Police in Niger state along with six others. They were killed on 15 March 2022. 

 Wasiu Abiodun spokesperson of the police in the state while confirming the sad incident said two other police officers and four vigilantes lost their lives in the gun battle. 

“On 15/03/2022 at about 1: p.m. armed bandits/terrorists invaded Nasko village, Magama LGA of Niger State Police operatives with vigilante members were immediately mobilized by DPO Nasko and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle in which some the hoodlums were neutralized and others escaped with gunshot injuries, the police said

Unfortunately, during the gun battle, the DPO, two other policemen, and four vigilante members lost their lives.

 The area commander of Kotangora immediately drafted a reinforcement with military personnel in the area in other to avoid a breakdown of law and order. 

   CP Monday Bala Kuryas who is the commissioner of police in Niger State condoles with the family of officers and vigilante members who lost their lives in the gun battle. He reassured members of the public that the police command would not be deterred or relent in its effort to curb banditry within the state.
