Bandits Arms Supplier Arrested By Troops In Kaduna
Aminu Abdullahi was traveling with large
quantities of ammunition which he wanted to supply to bandits around the Polewire
area in Birnin Gwari local government area of the Kaduna State.
In his statement, Samuel Aruwan the state
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs said that the troops made
gains based on credible intelligence of gunrunning activities in the area. In
the process of diligent checks, they spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle
within the area of interest.

A black Toyota Corolla car was
intercepted and during the search, over 200 rounds of various grades of
ammunition, hidden in different parts of the car were recovered by the troops.
According to Aruwan, a thorough search of the
vehicle resulted in the troops discovering 1,079 rounds of 7.62mm special
ammunition, 886 rounds of 7.62mm belted ammunition, 139 rounds of 7.62mm tracer
ammunition, and Five empty AK-47 magazines.
The Governor of Kaduna state El-Rufai has
expressed satisfaction with the discovery of the cache of ammunition. He also
commended the troops for their proactiveness in blocking the bandits from
receiving this large supply of ammunition meant to create havoc in the state.
The commissioner revealed that the suspect
is in custody for more investigation. The
Governor used the medium to appreciate the steadfast leadership of the General
Officer Commanding, One Division, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja was this recent
breakthrough. He encouraged the security forces to intensify their efforts and
carry out a thorough investigation of the arrested suspect to dismantle gun-running
networks across the state and beyond.
