Bandits Abduct 60 People In Zamfara, Katsina Communities
There are tensions in the border community
between Zamfara and Kastina states as armed bandits have abducted around 60
persons many of which are children.
The affected victims are from the Kucheri, Wanzamai, and Danwuri
communities of Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, and Yankara town
in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The ugly incidents occurred in the early hours
of Friday when these outlaws were traveling between Sububu Forest in Zamfara
State to neighboring Birnin-Gwari Forest in Kaduna State.
As of this time, police authorities in the
state are yet to confirm the incident, information from Channels TV gathered
that the terrorist was fleeing in their numbers as a result of heavy
bombardment from the military that killed over 100 bandits within seven days.
Ahmad Kucheri, a resident of Tsafe, revealed
that channel TV that the terrorist were fleeing because they have suffered heavy
casualties from the military. The terrorist started abducting anyone they see
along their way out of the state.
He said most of the people abducted were
picked inside their various farms, others are children that were fetching firewood
and local fertilizers in the bush and others were workers in local mining
sites.
“The
bandits were moving from Sububu Forest to Birnin-Gwari side. So, they see
people in the bush fetching firewood, they picked them, some children that are
picking local fertilizers, some that are doing mining work, they gathered all
of them and moved them to Birnin-Gwari side to Niger State,” he said.
“They did not shoot or
kill anybody, they just gathered people and not only children but anybody also
they see along their way.”
CSP Mohammed Shehu, the spokesperson of the
Zamfara state police command did not respond to calls or text messages sent to
him.

general of police who is the Zamfara state commissioner for security and is
also from the local government area did not also respond to calls
