Ballon d'Ór 2022: Sadio Mane Of Senegal Becomes The First Winner Of The Socrates Award For His Charity Work In Senegal

    Senegalese star and Bayern Munich forward  Sadio Mane has once again added another award to his belt as he receives the France Football Inaugural Socrates Award. He was given this award in recognition of his charity work in his home country in Senegal. 

   Sadio Mane who is also the reigning African footballer of the year has shared his fortune with the inhabitants of his home town Bambali as he has built a public hospital and funded schools and families in his home village. That is not all, he also helped Senegal fight the covid-19 pandemic by donating to the Senegalese National Committee. 

 "I'm really happy to be a guest tonight," Mane said. "Sometimes I'm a bit shy, but I'm really happy to do what I can do for my people to make things better."

  But what exactly is the Socrates prize? It is a Humanitarian award that helps football players to remember that they are in a privileged position to do good in the world.

  This accolade is named after the Brazilian footballer Socrates. Socrates co-founded the corinthians Democracy movement against the ruling Military government of Brazil in the 1980s.
