ASUU vows not to call off one-month warning strike
ASUU- the academic staff union of Universities has vowed not to call off the 30 days warning strike it began on February 14, 2022.
Professor Victor Emmanuel Osodeke the ASUU President said this during his appearance on channels TV on the 28 of Feb 2022. He said that the Union will not back down on the strike as the federal government has over the years always failed to keep their part of the bargain.
The Union has said they want action from the government and no more failed promises.
Victor Emmanuel said "For the past nine years or so, they have been giving us promises but once the strike is over, they relapse. So, our colleagues are tired of these promises which they don’t fulfill. What we want are actions."

According to him, if the federal government had kept their part of the deal, ASUU would not have embarked on this strike.
He did not agree with the argument that lecturers get paid for doing nothing after spending months on strike.
He added that despite ASUU's numerous strikes, most schools have not missed any academic year.
He said many members and lecturers have made many sacrifices for the educational system of the country as they forgo their leave for years just to meet up with the academic calendar.
He argued that lecturers are paid for the work done and anyone who says that ASUU is paid after the strike is telling a lie.
He also reacted to the planned protest by NANS (National Association of Nigerian Students)
He noted that protest is a human right and the students are only exercising their rights. But he explained that the Union is not moved by the planned protests.
