ASUU Strike – FG And ASUU Meeting Ends In Dreadlock
There is no end in sight for the over 6 months-long strike
action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. On Tuesday,
August 16, 2022, the meeting between the federal government and the academic staff
union of universities which many expected to end the strike ended in a
deadlock.

The striking Lecturers held the meeting at the
National University Commission In Abuja. This meeting was held with the
Professor Nimi Briggs committee and the meeting lasted for about three hours.
The meeting aimed to resolve the issues that led to the lingering strike.
Information
gathered from the lecturers who attended the meeting reveals that the
delegation from the federal government did not bring anything new to the table
except the offer to beg the lecturers to call off the strike on the condition
that their demands will be included in the 2023 budget.
