After Meeting With Queen, Liz Truss Assumes Office As UK's 3rd Female Prime Minister
Liz
Truss has assumed office as British prime minister
after meeting Queen Elizabeth II for a ceremonial transfer of
power showcasing centuries of tradition.
Early on Tuesday Boris Johnson formally
offered his resignation to the queen at Balmoral, her castle in Scotland. This
was after he delivered a farewell address outside his Downing Street office.
Just a day earlier, Truss was announced as the
leader of the ruling conservative party. Truss is now the 15th
leader to assume office in the queen`s reign and the third female prime
minister of the country.
The hand-over of power took place at the
queen`s summer retreat rather than Buckingham Palace in London for the first
time in 70 years.

Because of the 96-year-old mobility challenges,
the ceremony known as “kissing Hands” was moved to Scotland to guarantee the
events will take place as scheduled.
She has revealed that slashing regulations to
fuel economic growth and cutting taxes is the first on her to-do list.
Truss's first task is to appoint a cabinet to
tackle the mountain challenges facing the government such as multiple foreign
policy crises such as the war in Ukraine and frost Post Brexit relations with
the EU.
Truss while serving as a foreign secretary was
a firm supporter of Ukraine's resistance to the Russian invasion and now that
she has assumed office as Prime Minister, the continuity of the UK civil and
Military support for Kyiv is sure.
Truss has revealed that President Volodymyr
Zelenskyy is the first world leader she would make a phone call to.
