After Competing Internationally Without Hijab, Iranian Chess Player Warned Not To Return To Country

A chess player from Iran has been warned not to return to the country after competing in a chess game without her Hijab at an international chess tournament in Kazakhstan.

Sara Khademalsharieh was born in 1997 and appeared with her hair uncovered on Monday, December 26 at the World Rapid and Blitz championship in Solidary with other Iranian women.

According to a source close to Sara, who pleaded anonymous due to the sensitivity of the matter said Sara subsequently received multiple calls in which some persons warned her against returning home after the tournament.  Others however have urged her to come back stating that they will “solve the problem”.

Sara who is also known as Sarasadat Khademalsharieh arrived in Spain on Jan 3 after receiving threats not to return home.
